When To Go
The best time to go is September and October. The rainy season is May to August. There are landslides due to heavy rains and floods in July and August which could disrupt land excursions. The winter is cold, the hotels and ferries inadequately heated. A padded jacket or sweater and windbreaker is necessary for the wind in the gorges even in mid-October and into April. Expect delays by fog from early November and March. Also expect delays waiting for berths in Chongqing and Wuhan.
