Located in southwest of China, Yunnan has two spectacular ancient towns and inhabits large groups of ethnic minority people which make it become one of the most attractive, spectacular and popular tourism destinations. With the growth of economy, it boasts very convenient transportation systems with modern transportation facilities. Therefore, travel to Yunnan, tourists can take those means of transportation for getting around, such as by air, by train, by bus, by renting a car, or even by bike. And the popular ways of getting around Yunnan are by air, by bus and by train.

By Air

Travel in Yunnan, the quickest and most convenient way is by air. Nowadays, Yunnan province all together has 11 airports distributed in its major cities, such as Kunming, Lijiang, Dali, and Shangri-La and son on. The largest airport is Kunming International Airport whose direct flights are available to every major city in China, as well as the capitals of Laos, Malaysia, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

By Bus

Travel in Yunnan, another convenient way is by bus. Yunnan has a comprehensive and smooth bus network to all major destinations. Highways link Kunming with Dali, Lijiang, south to Baoshan and Jinghong, and southeast to Gejiu, Jianshui and some other cities in Yunnan. Its highway not only radiates our country’s major cities, but also the neighboring countries such as Laos.

By Train

When you decide travel Yunnan, you also can choose by train arriving in (or departing from) it. However, arriving in or departing from Yunnan by train is so a snail that makes it not a wise choice to get around Yunnan.

Yunnan railways link Sichuan, Guizhou, Gguangxi and further afield throughout of China. And the provincial largest railway station called Nanyao Railway station, which is located in the downtown of Kunming city. And the most popular route is from Kunming to Chengdu, following by Kunming to Guilin.
