Yunnan, China

Yunnan is located in southwest of China, borders Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Guizhou Province in the east, Sichuan Province in the north, and Tibet Autonomous Region in the northwest, and shares a border of 4,060 km with Myanmar in the west, Laos in the south, and Vietnam in the southeast. Its total area is 394,000 square kilometers and the average elevation is 2,500-3,000meters. Its capital city is Kunming which called ‘Spring City’. In Yunnan province, the total population is compose of 25 ethnic minority group people which is the reason that Yunnan has the greatest number of ethnic minority groups in China. Due to different groups of ethnic minority people live in such a place where people called ‘The South of Cloud’, made it be a center of diverse cultures and custom.

Because of the special location, Yunnan boasts abundant of tourism resources. Climate

The temperature in Yunnan province is mild. Its average temperature from April to October between 16°C to 28°C, and the average temperature from November to the next May between 4°C to 10°C. However, the temperature is diverse to different area, and also varies from day to night. Normally, the western and the northern areas are colder than the East and the south; the difference in temperature of a day is from 5°C to 14°C .

Money and Banking

Credit cards (Visa and Mater) are normally accepted by banks and most hotels, restaurants and tourist shops. But to those private stoppings and pedlars, they only accept cash (RMB, Chinese Yuan).

Yunnan Culture

Yunnan is a blend of diverse cultures and religions. People in Yunnan consist of Bai, Dai, Naxi, Yi, Tibetan, and Miao and so on. Each of the ethnic minority group has its own unique culture, such as in Lijiang, the Dongba Culture which consists of its writings, scriptures, paintings and dancing and Naxi ancient music.

Transportation

Yunnan has several airports and a major highway and rail network. The capital of Yunnan province, Kunming is its transport hub and acts as an important gateway, linking China to Southeast Asia, South Asia and Asia-Pacific region, and its airport also links domestic major cities, such Beijing, Shanghai, Xi’an and so on. Most of tourists travel by air or bus. However, railway and river travel are also available, but much slower than by air.

Yunnan holidays
